Virtual and Hybrid Courses

BSPH academics are offered in a variety of intended, purposeful course formats based on class structure or location. However, there are times when a course format is changed due to unforeseen circumstances. The resources on this page have been curated to help those teaching in both the planned hybrid format and the unplanned pivot to a virtual (synchronous online) course format.

A Note on Hybrid and Virtual Courses

Hybrid courses have a .41 or .49 section (for online students) paired with a .01 or .60 section (for on-site students). Students will register for one format or the other but learn together throughout the term. Learn more about this course type on our course formats page.

A virtual course format occurs when an on-campus/on-site course section (.01 or .60) has had to pivot to online, synchronous learning sessions. This is typically not planned in advance and thus special attention is given to its design and facilitation.

This resources on this page should help teaching teams for both hybrid and virtual course offerings.
