Recording Options
There are several options for creating digital recordings of lectures and other narrated content with audio and video. These options range from “self-serve,” impromptu recordings to high-quality, professional recordings involving a production team scheduled through the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL).
Option 1: Recording with CTL
If a finished product of the highest quality is desired, this can be achieved with CTL’s professional video and audio recording options. Our team of instructional designers, technical writers, audio producers and editors, illustrators, videographers, and web developers is here to help you create excellent and engaging course content. Professionally produced lectures and videos contribute to the outstanding quality of the online and blended courses offered through CoursePlus and beyond. They can be used repeatedly as published resources and references beyond an individual course offering.
Option 2: Self-Recording
Sometimes an impromptu recording is appropriate, for example, to replace an on-campus lecture that is canceled at the last minute due to inclement weather, and this type of recording can be done using one of the self-recording options:
-
Zoom
-
PowerPoint
-
Panopto
-
VoiceThread*
*Note that VoiceThread is a viable option for a "one time use" or "just in time" self-recorded lecture, but is not ideal for exporting a final video.
Option 3: Classroom Lecture Capture
Classroom lecture capture must be scheduled through the Bloomberg Multimedia team (login required).
Choosing a Recording Option
When deciding on the most appropriate recording option to meet your needs, the following chart comparing the strengths and benefits of different methods may prove beneficial. While this chart is not exhaustive, it includes options that are readily available to all Bloomberg School faculty.
